Alt-Pop, Jazz, Latin Grooves, Vin Diesel in West Palm Beach in September

Downtown West Palm Beach comes alive in September with live music, movies and cultural celebrations along the waterfront.


Clematis by Night


Every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., Clematis by Night transforms the Great Lawn at 100 N. Clematis St. into a lively outdoor concert venue. The month kicks off Sept. 4 with East Harbor, a South Florida alternative pop band known for its blend of electric guitar and synth-driven sound that radiates energy and good vibes. 


On Sept. 11, the New Horizon Band takes the stage, offering a mix of R&B, funk, blues and jazz. The group has shared the stage with legends such as B.B. King and Percy Sledge.


On Sept. 18, the city’s Hispanic Heritage Community Celebration features the Latin Groove Project, led by percussionist Joe Collado. Collado, who was named Miami’s Best Percussionist by Miami New Times in 2009, is recognized for his original Latin groove style.

Wrapping up the month Sept. 25, the DeLeon Oktoberfest Band brings Bavarian traditions to the waterfront with three generations of accordion players performing polka music in an authentic Oktoberfest celebration.


Screen on the Green


On Friday, Sept. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m., Screen on the Green on the Great Lawn features the 2005 family comedy “The Pacifier,” starring Vin Diesel as a Navy SEAL tasked with protecting five children. The event offers a laid-back evening under the stars.


Sunday on the Waterfront


On Sept. 21 from 4 to 7 p.m., the Meyer Amphitheatre at 104 Datura St. hosts Sunday on the Waterfront, featuring Mischief, a top Florida dance band. Known for a wide repertoire of R&B, disco, pop and hits from the ’70s through today, Mischief is expected to keep the crowd on its feet with high-energy performances and soulful vocals.

Soul in the City Jazz Experience


On Wednesday, Sept. 17, the Lake Pavilion at 101 S. Flagler Drive hosts the Soul in the City Jazz Experience from 7 to 9 p.m. September’s featured performer is J Blue, a powerful vocalist whose music fuses jazz, gospel, R&B and hip-hop. Drawing from her roots singing in church and inspired by her late father’s musical legacy, J Blue is known for honest lyrics and deeply emotional performances. General admission is $30, with reserved tables available for $45 per person. Tickets can be purchased at wpb.org/jazz.
