Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens reopened Oct. 11 for the 2023-24 season of exhibitions, special events and speakers.
The exhibitions include:
“Paul Gervais — An Endangered Landscape: Recent Paintings of the Hypoluxo Scrub” through Jan. 7 inside the Norton Gallery.
“The Divine Feminine: Contemporary Women Sculptors” in partnership with New Wave from Dec. 1 to May 1 outside in the Gardens.
“Discovering Creativity” in partnership with Heather James Fine Art from Jan. 10 to March 17 in the Norton Gallery.
“Savage Garden|Jardín Salvaje” by the fourth artist in residence, Jordi Mollà, from March 20 to June 30 in the Norton Gallery.
“We are thrilled” by the lineup, says Margaret Horgan, the executive director of the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens. She cites such special events as the seventh annual Sculpture in Motion on Nov.18 and the fifth annual Jazz and Gospel in the Gardens series over four months.
The second Friday of each month through June, Master Gardener in Residence CJ McCartney provides a tour and talk about the tropical gardens.
New at the Gardens is Conservation Conversations, a speaker series about how conservation, sustainability and restoration can transform South Florida. It takes place on the first Thursday of the month from November to April.
Board Chairwoman Frances Fisher says of Spanish actor and painter Jordi Mollà, the artist in residence: “Not only does his body of work include over 60 films, but he is a self-taught painter known to channel as much passion and purpose into his works of art as he does with his acting. His bold style and technique include abstract, pop, graffiti and hyperrealism.”
