Families looking for a safe, fun, and educational way to celebrate Halloween can head to the Daggerwing Nature Center on Friday, Oct. 24, for an evening of games, crafts, and after-dark exploration. The free event, held from 6 to 8 p.m., invites children to come dressed in costume and learn about the fascinating nocturnal creatures that call South Florida home.
Located inside Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, west of Boca Raton, the county-operated nature center's Halloween event will introduce kids to owls, toads, snakes, and spiders — species that thrive after the sun goes down. Activities will include family-friendly games, hands-on crafts, and guided learning stations.
After the indoor festivities, families are encouraged to continue the adventure outside. Staff will lead participants along the center’s boardwalk for a nighttime walk through the wetlands. Attendees are reminded to bring flashlights and insect repellent to make the most of the evening experience.
The event is part of Daggerwing’s ongoing mission to connect residents with the unique ecosystems of western Palm Beach County. Admission is free, and no pre-registration is required.
Daggerwing Nature Center, located at 11435 Park Access Road, Boca Raton, is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department. For more information about Daggerwing, visit www.pbcnature.com.
