Palm Beach State College’s Loxahatchee Groves campus drew more than 200 people to its first Harvest Fest on Oct. 27. The inaugural event, sponsored by the Foundation for Palm Beach State College, was intended to increase awareness of the campus and its programs for central and western Palm Beach County.

The festival included hayrides, face painting, a mini farmers market and photo opportunities with some scaly reptile visitors.

The college partnered with Basore Family Farms in Wellington and the Tractor Supply Co. in Loxahatchee Groves. Basore Family Farms co-owner Krista Basore says, “As folks involved in agriculture in the Glades, we were very happy to provide our support to the campus and help make this event have a beautiful look and feel.”

Student activities manager Cynedra Blake and outreach program specialist Stankeisha Burchell-Webb organized and executed the event. “The event had a great family atmosphere with a lot of Panther pride,” Blake says. “It was exciting to be able to engage with the faculty, staff and students and partner with the community.”
