Harvest Fest promotes PBSC programs in Loxahatchee Groves

Palm Beach State College’s Loxahatchee Groves campus drew more than 200 people to its first Harvest Fest on Oct. 27. The inaugural event, sponsored by the Foundation for Palm Beach State College, was intended to increase awareness of the campus and its programs for central and western Palm Beach County.


The festival included hayrides, face painting, a mini farmers market and photo opportunities with some scaly reptile visitors.



The college partnered with Basore Family Farms in Wellington and the Tractor Supply Co. in Loxahatchee Groves. Basore Family Farms co-owner Krista Basore says, “As folks involved in agriculture in the Glades, we were very happy to provide our support to the campus and help make this event have a beautiful look and feel.”


Student activities manager Cynedra Blake and outreach program specialist Stankeisha Burchell-Webb organized and executed the event. “The event had a great family atmosphere with a lot of Panther pride,” Blake says. “It was exciting to be able to engage with the faculty, staff and students and partner with the community.”

  • Palm Beach County Beekeepers Association.

  • Gift of Life in Boca Raton.

  • YouFit Gym in Wellington.

  • PBSC’s TRIO and Dental Health programs.


The 75-acre Loxahatchee Groves campus opened in 2017. The campus focuses on innovative technology and health science programs, featuring state-of-the-art virtual reality learning in its science labs.
