The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency’s Heart of Boynton Village Apartments & Shops received the International Award for Innovative Public-Private Partnership Project from the International Economic Development Council.

“This award is a testament to the BBCRA’s dedication to its residents and serves as a great example of how economic development can help transform a community for the better,” says Nathan Ohle, the IEDC’s president and CEO.

The Heart of Boynton Village is a response to the housing crisis caused by rising prices in Palm Beach County. The $34 million redevelopment project features 124 affordable housing units.

The BBCRA aims to provide affordable housing and restore and preserve the East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard corridor. The corridor’s commercial hub has been renewed, and the BBCRA has implemented regulations to track progress and upkeep.

Founded in 1982, the BBCRA provides programs and strategies to help businesses along east-west commercial corridors in South Florida. For more information about BBCRA, visit boyntonbeachcra.com.

The nonprofit IEDC has more than 4,300 members, making it the largest organization in its specialty. Members help with economic development through local, state, provincial and federal governments, chambers of commerce, universities, and other institutions.
