Inspired Living Care in Royal Palm Beach is raising money for a young girl who was paralyzed in a car crash in June 2020.

A silent auction during the assisted living facility’s next fundraising benefit will support Memphis Rose Hamman, who was a 6-year-old kindergartner when she suffered a traumatic spinal injury and was paralyzed from the neck down.

The car her grandmother was driving was struck by a vehicle that had crossed a median, and a third vehicle sandwiched the car where Memphis was riding in the back seat. Her uncle died from his injuries, and her grandmother suffered a crushed knee and multiple foot injuries.

“We’ll have holiday music, treats, hot cocoa and cookies,” says Christy Zillmer, the sales and marketing director for Inspired Living at Royal Palm Beach, “and all the community members will be invited. All silent auction proceeds will go straight to the family and Memphis’ continued physical and occupational therapy to sustain her life.”

The event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 13 comes as Inspired Living is preparing to raise prices for care in 2023 for the first time since opening. The facility is offering a promotion to beat the increases throughout December.

“This will be our first rate increase since we opened in December of 2020,” Zillmer says. “Move-ins tend to slow down for us around the holidays, so we’re hoping this promotion helps us fill up our community. And anyone moving in this year would not be subject to the new rate increases for 2023.”

The Royal Palm Beach location offers three floor plans, each with a double bed and bathroom. Cats and dogs weighing less than 30 pounds are allowed.

The 440-square-foot Vibrant studio apartments start at $3,895 per month. The 620-square-foot Joyous one-bedroom apartments (with an additional living and dining area) start at $4,800. Both are for assisted living residents. The 360-square-foot Radiant apartments are for memory care residents and start at $4,700.

“We have four different levels of care,” Zillmer says. “Those are based on a points system dictated by how long a caregiver is spending with the resident for their activities and daily living. Those factors include whether they need help getting up in the morning and transferring out of bed, showering, dressing, medications, an escort to meals if needed, and everything else leading up to getting them safely back to bed at night.”

Outdoor area offers shuffleboard and fire pit with rockers.

“The biggest difference from the assisted living apartments is that the memory care units will not have kitchenettes,” Zillmer says. “Assisted living residents wear pendants that they can press if they need assistance, but not memory care residents. They require more attention, more staff and a higher level of care.”

Those prices include chef-prepared meals available in the dining room or apartments, a weekly calendar of activities within an extensive wellness program, housekeeping and laundry services, and transportation within 10 miles of the facility.

Inspired Living is based in Tampa and has 14 locations in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas. The Royal Palm Beach community earned a Best Assisted Living award for 2022-23 from U.S. News & World Report and its 2022-23 Best Memory Care award.
