Lake Worth Beach-based sculptural artist Debra Robert brings her deeply personal and universal exploration of humanity to the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County’s Gayle and Paul Gross Gallery with her new exhibition, “HumanUnity.” Running from Dec. 6 through Jan. 11, the show is free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

Robert’s ceramic sculptures range from abstract forms to biomorphic figures and playful humanistic designs, measuring from 9 inches to over 5 feet tall. Through these works, she investigates core human truths, emphasizing the hidden worlds we all carry within us. The exhibition highlights the shared journey of humankind, inviting visitors to reflect on their own experiences.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is a 6-foot wall installation and three-dimensional sculptures meant to be viewed from all angles.
Robert’s creative process, influenced by her multiple sclerosis, incorporates her tremors into the intricate surface treatment of her ceramics, creating layered, biomorphic designs that expose her inner world.
“Her works are otherworldly and accessible, showcasing an artist sure of her craft,” said Jessica Ransom, the council’s director of artist services and curator.
Selected through a competitive process, Robert is one of six artists who will have solo exhibitions in the council’s 2024-2025 season. Her works have been named best in show at multiple local exhibitions and have been featured in many publications.
