“The President’s Own” United States Marine Band will bring more than two centuries of musical tradition to West Palm Beach during a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.

Founded in 1798, the United States Marine Band is the country’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. The band has performed for every U.S. president since John Adams and has been known as “The President’s Own” since Thomas Jefferson’s administration.

The West Palm Beach concert is part of the band’s 2026 national tour, with 27 performances in seven states.

The band’s director, Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin, will lead a program modeled after the concerts of John Philip Sousa, the band’s celebrated 17th director. Sousa began the national touring tradition in 1891 with permission from President Benjamin Harrison.

The program will combine traditional band repertoire, Sousa marches, contemporary compositions, vocal and instrumental solos, and a patriotic salute to the armed forces.

The ensemble has a Palm Beach County connection. Gunnery Sgt. Landres Bryant, a tuba player, is a West Palm Beach native and 2006 graduate of Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts. He joined “The President’s Own” in 2012 after studying at the University of Michigan and Yale University.

Admission is free, but tickets are required through the Kravis Center and are limited to four per request. Ticket holders must be seated in Dreyfoos Hall at 701 Okeechobee Blvd. by 7:15 p.m.; remaining seats will be opened afterward. Parking is free.
