Tea Day is Dec. 13 at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, offering visitors a full schedule of programs celebrating the art, culture, and flavors of Japanese tea. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., guests can take part in tea activities with museum admission.
Tea vendors will be stationed in the museum lobby from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., giving visitors the opportunity to browse, taste, and learn about a wide range of teas.
At 12 p.m., the Morikami Theater will host a free lecture by Tea Ambassador Rona Tison, who will guide attendees through the history and cultural significance of Japanese tea.
The day concludes with a traditional Japanese tea ceremony demonstration at 2 p.m. in the Morikami Theater. For $5 with museum admission, guests can observe sado, "the way of tea," an experience rooted in harmony, reverence, purity, and tranquility. The demonstration includes a taste of green tea.
