The Palm Beach Photographic Centre is displaying its 26th annual Members’ Show in West Palm Beach through Oct. 28.

President and CEO Fatima NeJame enlisted a veteran photographer, Craig Blacklock, to be the juror. Blacklock is best known for photography related to landscapes and nudity.

This year’s Best in Show was photographed by Linh Trinh of Palm Springs. The piece, “Red Shouldered Hawk,” features a distinguished hawk landing on the median of a pokey spiked fence.

“This is not the first time has won,” NeJame says. “She actually won in 2012 or 2013, something like that. She’s a really good photographer. She submits every year, and every year she is top 10.”

Linh received a cash prize of $950.

EJ Morales of West Palm Beach won first place for “Winter Is Coming,” while Jeff Olson of Coral Springs took second place for “The Hold Out.” Alberto Sisso of Fort Lauderdale earned honorable mention for “The Space Between.”

NeJame is impressed by Sisso’s talent. “His images were both landscapes and people,” she says. “And I always love it when a photographer is multidimensional where they can do both. Not every photographer can do a great landscape and a great people shot. But that is the case with Alberto — really incredible images.”

The opening reception took place Aug. 26. NeJame was excited to do the event in person this year. “Our last two years the member show was virtual, and FOTOfusion was virtual. I actually wasn’t expecting too many people, so I was shocked to see between 300 to 400 people. It was amazing. It was good to see everybody.”

Many more pieces can be viewed among the 2022 members’ exhibition selections.

Palm Beach Photographic Centre began as a small facility in Boca Raton before growing to over 5,000 square feet at its downtown West Palm Beach site at 415 Clematis St., its home the past 13 years. The center offers more than 300 classes and workshops and has many volunteer opportunities for those looking to delve into art and photography.

Center members receive discounts on workshops and other events, free admission to certain FOTOfusion community events and other series, free entrance to museum exhibitions and custom printing. To learn more, visit workshop.org/members.
