Promise Fund to offer free mammography screenings in August

Promise Fund will host three free mammography screening events across Palm Beach County this month to increase access to early breast cancer detection for uninsured, underinsured and medically underserved women.

Appointments are required for all screenings, which are being offered in partnership with healthcare providers, community organizations and faith-based groups.

The first event will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Iglesia de Dios Puerta del Cielo, 709 N. F St. in Lake Worth Beach. The screening is presented in partnership with Faith Community Closet, Baptist Health and the Florida Department of Health.

The second screening will take place Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Growing Strong Ministries, 1512 NE Fourth St. in Boynton Beach. The event is presented in partnership with Florida Mobile Mammography, the Florida Department of Health and Growing Strong Ministries.

The final screening is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal Mi Renacer, 2700 Forest Hill Blvd. in West Palm Beach.

Partners for the event include Florida Mobile Mammography, Monarch Health Services, Renacer and the Florida Department of Health.

The screening initiative is also supported through partnerships with HealthyMe, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, Origin Church and Monarch Health Services.

"The Promise Fund is here to make screenings accessible for everyone, especially those who might otherwise go without care," says Lissette Lahoz, Promise Fund's Palm Beach County navigator. "Early detection can make a real difference."

Founded in 2018 by Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, Promise Fund works throughout Palm Beach, Broward and Martin counties to increase survivorship from breast and cervical cancer by connecting women with screenings, early detection, treatment and patient navigation services.
