The Village of Wellington is celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with three days of patriotic events, live entertainment, family activities and fireworks at Wellington Celebrates America 250.
Scheduled for July 2 to 4, the celebration marks the nation’s semiquincentennial and Wellington’s participation in America’s Block Party, billed as the largest synchronized Fourth of July celebration in U.S. history.

For village officials, the expanded celebration is about more than fireworks and entertainment. It is an opportunity to bring the community together around a national milestone.
“We already have a successful Fourth of July celebration and popular amphitheater events,” Community Services Director Jenifer Brito says. “This was the perfect opportunity to bring everything together for the whole weekend and give families multiple ways to participate.”
The festivities begin with a special Thursday Nights in Wellington celebration at the amphitheater, followed by a Patriotic Pool Party at the Wellington Aquatics Center on Friday and the annual Fourth of July celebration at Village Park on Saturday.

Michelle Garvey, the village’s special events coordinator, says planning began nearly a year ago and was influenced by several milestones in 2026.
“This is our 30th year as the Village of Wellington, we’re celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, and we’re also approaching the 25th remembrance of 9/11,” Garvey says. “It felt important to recognize these milestones and celebrate our veterans, our small-business owners, our families and our employees who make Wellington such a great place to live and work.”

The three-day celebration will feature tribute bands, food trucks, other vendors, family activities, contests, games and Independence Day fireworks.
Brito says the goal is to create opportunities for residents to celebrate together.
“We’re really excited to offer three days of events,” she says. “You’ve got music, food, activities, fireworks and opportunities for people to connect with their neighbors. It truly offers something for everyone.”
Garvey hopes attendees leave with a renewed appreciation for their country and their community.

“We’ve added flags throughout the venues, and as people walk in, they immediately feel that sense of patriotism and nostalgia,” she says. “When the national anthem is sung and everyone pauses together, those are the moments that remind us what this celebration is all about.”
