Wellington plans spectacular 4th of July at Village Park

The Village of Wellington is preparing to host one of South Florida’s most anticipated Independence Day celebrations with live entertainment, activities, food and fireworks on Friday, July 4, at Village Park.


The celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. with activities ranging from bounce houses to obstacle courses and from face painting to climbing walls, then culminates in a 20-minute fireworks show beginning at 9:15. Admission is free.

Children can enjoy an extensive lineup of inflatables from 6 to 9, including the Adrenaline Rush II Obstacle Course, Alpine Woods Tube Slide, Boom Box Bouncer, Candy House Combo, Corn Maze, Farm Maze Obstacle Course, Game Time Obstacle Course, Gamer Village, Lady Bug Bouncer, Monster Truckin’ Bounce and USA Slide.


Families can test their skills at a variety of Crazy Games, including Dart Wars Party, Parachute Madness, Soccer Target Challenge and Zap-A-Mole.


Face painting will be available inside the gymnasium until 8:30.

Free bingo will take place inside the gym from 6:30 until approximately 8.

A petting zoo will be open from 6:30 to 8:30, and young paleontologists can explore the Dino Dig, where they can unearth and keep real fossils.


Traditional lawn games and a face-to-face climbing wall round out the activities.

Two bands will provide live music. South Florida’s Whisky Six, known for modern country hits mixed with classics from legends such as Johnny Cash and George Strait, will take the stage at 6. The Freebirds, a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band from South Florida, will perform at 7:30.


Among the food trucks will be Auntie Anne’s, Authentic Gyros, Best Pizza Heaven, Birria King, Cambalache Cuisine, CrepStick, Foster’s BBQ, Four Corners Cafe, Fusion 524, G’s Hibachi, Heavenly Churros, Houte’s Caribbean Kitchen, Kobschies Ice Rolls, Kona Ice, La Guarida Cubana, Mr Maine Lobster, Philly’s House, The Shrimp King, Tulum Taco Shop and Twisted Hippie.

Booths offering everything from handcrafted goods to family services include A Perfect Wrap, BluSkys Unlimited, Bohovibes, Craft Addicts, Dippin’ Dots & Doc Popcorn, Duck Donuts, Oasis Church, Pet Supplies Plus, Storm Smart, Sun Kiss Palm Beach, Sweeteez Lemonade, The Pink Pumpkin Seed, Tropical Utopia, Universal Mobile Bear, Village of Wellington Communications, Wilbon Chocolate and Young Orthodontics.


OneBlood’s Big Red Bus will take blood donations.


Zambelli Fireworks International will present the grand finale. The 20-minute fireworks show will be synchronized with music broadcast locally on 88.7 FM.


Parking at Village Park is available but limited. A free shuttle runs to and from the Palm Tran bus stop near Macy’s at The Mall at Wellington Green, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The shuttle will pause during the fireworks.

A shuttle also will run to and from a designated drop-off/pickup area for rideshare services.


Golf carts may be used to reach the park but may not be driven through the event grounds.


Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs, as well as bug spray, sunscreen, snacks and plenty of water. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Though many food and beverage options will be available from vendors, families with young children or special dietary needs are advised to bring refreshments.


In the event of inclement weather, Wellington offers updates through its website, the RainoutLine mobile app, and text and email alerts.
