Wellington Regional honors Fire Rescue and Care Team at ‘Call of the Quarter’

Wellington Regional Medical Center is hosting a “Call of the Quarter” recognition event on Tuesday, Jan. 20, to honor Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and the hospital’s own Wellington Regional Care Team for their coordinated response to a life-threatening cardiac emergency.

The ceremony, scheduled for 4 p.m. at Wellington Regional Medical Center, 10101 Forest Hill Blvd., will reunite a cardiac patient with the emergency responders and medical professionals whose rapid actions were credited with saving her life.

Hospital officials said the recognition highlights an incident in which Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to a patient experiencing severe chest pain. A STEMI alert — indicating a serious type of heart attack — was initiated in the field, allowing the patient to be transported quickly to Wellington Regional Medical Center with advance notification to the hospital’s cardiac team. The coordinated response resulted in timely treatment, a positive clinical outcome and the patient’s discharge home.
