The Village of Wellington will officially kick off its holiday festivities on Thursday, Dec. 4, with a Holiday Cultural Celebration & Tree Lighting at the Wellington Amphitheater, located at 12100 Forest Hill Boulevard. The event recognizes holidays and traditions across cultures and will be held in conjunction with the weekly Food Truck & Music Series and Lakeside Market.
Holiday light displays along the Town Center promenade (12150 Forest Hill Boulevard) will illuminate the waterfront nightly through December 31.
The evening will include the ceremonial tree lighting at 6 p.m., along with face painting, holiday card crafting, a hot cocoa station, performances, vendors, and photo opportunities with children’s holiday characters from 6 to 8 p.m. Santa Claus is also scheduled to make an appearance.
The celebration highlights the cultural diversity of Wellington through a series of Holiday Cultural Presentations. Community partners will share the stories and traditions behind the season, including Hanukkah and Eight Holy Nights with Temple Beth Torah; Kwanzaa presented by the Crowned Pearls of Wellington and the Black Leadership & Achievement Student Team (BLAST); Three Kings Day with Wellington High School’s Latinos In Action; and The Story of Christmas with Christ Fellowship.
At 8 p.m., the Neil S. Hirsch Boys and Girls Club of Wellington’s “Wellington Show Steppers” will take the stage, bringing high-energy choreography and hometown spirit to the Holiday Celebration.
