The City of West Palm Beach is set to transport the community back in time with the debut of Vintage Vibes Powered by LOVE The Palm Beaches, a free event celebrating the culture and creativity of the 1980s and 1990s, from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the West Palm Beach Waterfront.
“Vintage Vibes is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the vibrant culture of West Palm Beach,” Mayor Keith A. James says. “We are thrilled to offer this free event and look forward to seeing everyone on the waterfront. It’s a chance for residents and visitors alike to enjoy a nostalgic journey through music, arts and entertainment, all while supporting local businesses and enjoying the beauty of our city.”
A Celebration of Retro Culture
The entertainment includes Rubixx, known for electrifying renditions of ’80s hits, and Zendatta, a Police tribute band.
Gaming enthusiasts can revisit the golden age of arcades at the Retro Replay lounge inside the Lake Pavilion, featuring classic games such as “Pac-Man” and “Donkey Kong,” alongside 8-bit consoles and multiplayer tournaments — all free to play.
The Remix Art Village showcases local artists’ works inspired by the bold aesthetics of the ’80s and ’90s, from vintage prints to pop-culture fashion accessories like fanny packs. The nearby Remix Art Studio offers free, hands-on art workshops. Highlights include crafting miniature retro “Tiny Doors,” painting neon-inspired canvases, and personalizing notebooks with bubble letters and vintage embellishments.
The Rollerback Roller Rink is an outdoor throwback to classic roller discos. Skates are available for rent (you’ll need socks).
Adding to the nostalgic atmosphere, a car show displays classic automobiles from the era, and local restaurants and food vendors serve up Retro Bites for a culinary trip down memory lane.
Community Spirit on Display
“Early May has always been a time when locals and visitors gather to enjoy our beautiful area, and Vintage Vibes builds on that tradition,” says Angela Poco, the city’s community events manager. “This event taps into the fun and excitement of the past while supporting our vibrant local businesses. We encourage everyone to join us and to come dressed in their best ’80s or ’90s attire for the full experience.”
