Families across Palm Beach County are invited to kick off the spring season with a focus on health and activity as the YMCA of the Palm Beaches hosts its annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The free community event will take place at the YMCA at Palm Beach State College, located at 4200 S. Congress Ave., and is open to the public. Designed as part of the YMCA’s national Healthy Kids Day initiative, the event aims to encourage children and families to adopt healthy habits and stay active as they head into the summer months.
Attendees can expect a wide range of family-friendly activities focused on movement, play and engagement. Planned activities include relay races, potato sack races, a football toss, soccer challenges, corn hole and ladder golf. Children will also have access to a giant inflatable slide and a variety of interactive activity stations set up throughout the venue.
In addition to recreational activities, the event will feature participation from more than 30 community vendors offering resources, information and giveaways tailored to families. Food trucks will be on site with items available for purchase, and attendees can enter raffles for the chance to win tickets to popular attractions throughout Palm Beach County.
Organizers say one of the highlights of the event will be the Healthy Kids Day activity map, which encourages children to explore different stations and activities. The first 100 children who complete the map will receive special prizes.
“Healthy Kids Day is a celebration of community and a reminder of the importance of keeping kids active, engaged, and connected,” said Tim Coffield, president and CEO of the YMCA of the Palm Beaches. “We are proud to offer this free event to families across Palm Beach County and help set the stage for a healthy, happy summer.”
Healthy Kids Day has become a signature event for the YMCA nationwide, emphasizing the importance of physical activity, social connection and access to community resources. Local organizers note that the event not only promotes wellness but also provides families with opportunities to connect with organizations that support youth development and healthy living.
Admission to Healthy Kids Day is free, and no prior registration is required. For more information, visit ymcapalmbeaches.org or call (561) 968-9622.
