Friendship, food and an opportunity to stay connected will bring seniors together Oct. 2 when Royal Palm Beach hosts its next Young at Heart Luncheon from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Royal Palm Beach Cultural Center, 151 Civic Center Way.
The village’s Young at Heart program is designed to keep older adults active and connected through luncheons, business breakfasts, other meetings, day and overnight excursions, the Senior Prom, and other activities.
Young at Heart is part of a broader lineup of senior programming offered by Royal Palm Beach. Village Manager Raymond Liggins describes the senior program as an opportunity for participants to enjoy themed social activities, dancing, food and friendship.
The luncheons have traditionally offered more than a meal. Live entertainment includes music ranging from Motown to country and mariachi to steel drums.
Young at Heart also helps older adults connect with resources involving health care, Social Security, taxes, insurance, transportation and other concerns.
The program complements other senior activities offered through Royal Palm Beach, including chair yoga, tai chi, technology classes, art programs, a book club, SilverSneakers, quilting and sewing, and a weekday congregate meal program.
