Boynton Beach CRA hosts Rock the Plaza

The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (BBCRA) is holding Rock the Plaza, a free, family-friendly event, Saturday, Aug. 22, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Ocean Palm Plaza, 1600 N. Federal Highway.

The event is part of the agency’s traveling business promotion series highlighting shopping plazas throughout the BBCRA district while encouraging the community to shop, dine and otherwise support locally owned businesses.

Rock the Plaza will not feature outside vendors. Instead, Ocean Palm Plaza and its restaurants, retailers and professional service providers become the attraction.

“Rock the Plaza is all about bringing the community together while supporting our local businesses,” the BBCRA says. “We’re excited to create an experience where residents can enjoy live entertainment, great food and family activities.”

Girlfriend Material will perform an energetic mix of rock music, and a DJ also will entertain the crowd amid family-friendly games, interactive activities and other entertainment spread throughout the plaza.

Five restaurants are participating:

• Alfa Pizzeria.

• Bon Zouti.

• Boynton Wine & Spirits.

A sample station will provide the opportunity to sample the food of the participating restaurants.

Several businesses will offer special promotions through the Boynton Beach Bucks program.

Because parking at Ocean Palm Plaza is limited, the BBCRA is encouraging the use of complimentary transportation options.

A free circuit shuttle will operate between Ocean Palm Plaza and the Boynton Beach City Hall parking lots at 100 E. Boynton Beach Blvd.

Residents within the Coastal Cruiser by Circuit service area can request an on-demand ride directly to the event for as little as $1.
