In celebration of World Ocean Day, the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with several community organizations to host a land and waterway cleanup at Ocean Inlet Park on Friday, June 6. The event is free and open to the public, offering a chance to help preserve South Florida’s marine environment.
Organized with the Beach Bucket Foundation, Visit Palm Beach, Live Free Diving, Palm Beach Pack and Paddle Club, Florida Paddling Trails, and Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management, the event encourages participants of all ages to clean the shorelines and waterways of Ocean Inlet Park by foot, kayak or paddleboard.
Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. The cleanup runs from 8 to 11 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring their own kayaks or paddleboards if they wish to navigate through the inlet, or they can reserve rentals through Visit Palm Beach at www.visitpalmbeach.com. Cleanup supplies are provided.
Ocean Inlet Park is at 6990 N. Ocean Blvd. in Ocean Ridge.
The Ocean Project established World Ocean Day in 2002 as a unified day of action for ocean conservation. It aims to raise awareness and inspire communities to protect marine ecosystems through grassroots engagement and policy advocacy.
“World Ocean Day is an important reminder of our collective responsibility to safeguard the oceans,” said Jamilah St. Juste, a Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation representative. “This event is a hands-on way for our community to make a positive impact, enjoy the outdoors and come together for a shared cause.”
