Daggerwing July events include music, archery and turtles

Daggerwing Nature Center is kicking off a plethora of events in July with its 14th annual Fourth of July celebration at Sunset Cove Amphitheater. The nature center is showcasing their animal ambassadors along with music and fireworks.


Daggerwing Nature Center, west of Boca Raton, includes a 3,000-square-foot exhibit hall, an art gallery, a butterfly garden, a boardwalk with two trails and an observation tower to view the diverse flora and fauna.


“Mother Nature & Me: Colors in Nature” and “Mother Nature & Me: Polar Party” are for toddlers and preschoolers and their guardians. These themed events include stories, live animals, activities and a craft. “Colors in Nature” takes place Tuesday, July 5, at 10:30 a.m., and “Polar Party” is July 19 at 10:30 a.m.


“Daggerwing Visits the Library: Turtles” takes place July 12 at 3:30 p.m. at the Glades Road Branch Library with turtles from Daggerwing as animal ambassadors. This event is for ages 5 and up.


“Radical Reptiles” is a family-friendly program with some of Daggerwing’s reptiles July 16 at 10:30 a.m. A Daggerwing naturalist is leading the program which will teach participants about the diversity of reptiles with some live visitors.


Daggerwing’s “Intro to Archery” course teaches the sport to participants 8 and older, including safety techniques, with certified USA Archery and National Field Archery Association staff. The class takes place July 30 at 10:30 a.m.


The price for each event ranges from free to $10 per person. Reservations are required, and spots are limited. Go here to register.
