Tucked inside the 800-acre Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park in Boca Raton, Daggerwing Nature Center at 11435 Park Access Road is a dynamic destination for nature enthusiasts. Operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, the center offers year-round educational, recreational and conservation programs to promote environmental awareness, outdoor skills and community wellness.
The center is named after the ruddy daggerwing, a striking butterfly species native to South Florida. Known for its vivid orange upper wings and brown-and-black undersides, the butterfly is often spotted fluttering along the trails and boardwalks winding through the area’s wetlands, pine flatwoods and cypress swamps, in addition to its butterfly sanctuary. The natural corridors also offer safe viewing of birds, reptiles and mammals in their native environments.
