What began as a small, family-run Italian restaurant nearly five decades ago has grown into one of South Florida’s most recognizable dining brands.
Founded in 1976 in Lake Worth, Lynora’s traces its roots to the journey of Italian immigrants Raffaele and Maria Abbenante, who brought generations of family recipes from the island of Ponza to Palm Beach County. The couple named their restaurant after Maria’s grandmother, Lynora, and quickly established a loyal following with traditional dishes rooted in old-world cooking.

For more than 30 years, the original restaurant operated as a neighborhood staple, with family members working side by side to serve handmade pasta, signature sauces and classic Italian favorites. When the original location closed in the early 2000s following the founders’ retirement, the future of the brand was uncertain.
That changed in 2013, when their son, Angelo Abbenante, revived the concept in downtown West Palm Beach. The relaunch introduced a modern dining atmosphere while preserving the core of the business—its recipes and family-driven approach.
Maria Abbenante remains actively involved in the kitchens, overseeing quality and ensuring that each dish reflects the flavors she learned growing up in Italy. Her role, the family says, continues to anchor the brand’s authenticity as it expands.

Today, Lynora’s has grown into a multi-location restaurant group with a footprint across South Florida and plans for continued expansion. New locations are slated to open over the next year in Melbourne, Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Royal Palm Beach, with additional growth expected beyond 2026.
Beyond its restaurants, the brand has evolved into a broader lifestyle concept. The company has introduced speakeasy-style nightlife venues, including Spazio and its newest concept, Stanza, as well as a retail line of sauces inspired by Maria’s original recipes. Those products are now available in grocery stores, restaurants and online, allowing customers to recreate Lynora’s dishes at home.

The expansion has contributed to steady growth, with the company reporting approximately 25 percent annual increases and a business valued at around $30 million. Yet, despite its scale, the Abbenante family maintains that the operation continues to reflect its origins.

In 2026, the company is marking its 50th anniversary with a nod to its beginnings. From June through September, select menu items will be offered at 1976 pricing, alongside the opening of several new locations.
While the brand’s reach continues to grow, its guiding principle remains unchanged: honoring tradition while expanding thoughtfully.
