Manatee Lagoon in West Palm Beach will host its annual Migration Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 6000 N. Flagler Drive. The free, family-friendly event welcomes the return of manatees to South Florida’s warmer waters as winter approaches.
The celebration coincides with the start of manatee season, which runs from Nov. 15 through March 31, when the gentle marine mammals migrate to warmer areas. As water temperatures in the Lake Worth Lagoon drops below 68 degrees, manatees seek refuge in the clean, warm-water outflows near Florida Power & Light’s Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center, adjacent to Manatee Lagoon.
Included in the event are educational exhibits, speakers, indoor and outdoor games, hands-on activities, and face painting. A variety of sweet and savory food trucks will also be on site, with items available for purchase. Admission and parking are free.
