The Palm Beach chapter of the Rare Fruit Council International, a nonprofit devoted to encouraging the cultivation, appreciation and use of tropical and uncommon fruits in South Florida, holds its annual Spring Tropical Fruit Tree & Edible Plant Sale on Saturday, March 21. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach.

At this year’s Spring Tropical Fruit Tree & Edible Plant Sale, vendors from across Florida offer a diverse selection of fruit trees and edible plants. Shoppers can browse varieties such as avocado, banana, Barbados cherry, black sapote, canistel, citrus, dragon fruit, fig, guava, jackfruit, jaboticaba, longan, mango, miracle fruit, mulberry, soursop and sugar apple, among others.

Educational resources on planting and caring for fruit trees will be available throughout the event, with experienced volunteers and vendors on hand to answer questions and offer guidance. The Rare Fruit Council will return to the same location later this year for its annual Fall Tropical Fruit Tree & Edible Plant Sale on Oct. 17.

The Palm Beach Chapter of the Rare Fruit Council (RFC) includes several hundred members who share an interest in discovering, growing and enjoying tropical fruit. The group currently hosts in-person meetings on the second Friday of each month at 7 p.m.
