PBSC brings Medical Assisting Program to Loxahatchee Groves Campus

Palm Beach State College is bringing Palm Beach County’s western communities a fast track to a high-demand health care career. The college’s medical assisting program has expanded to the Loxahatchee Groves campus, offering hands-on training and industry-recognized certification.

Students in the program have two options. They can earn a medical assisting advanced associate in science degree in two years or complete a medical assisting specialist college credit certificate in as little as 15 months. College officials say the flexibility makes the program a strong fit both for first-time college students and for those looking to launch a new career.

PBSC’s medical assisting program is the only accredited program of its kind in Palm Beach County. Students receive training that meets industry standards and become eligible to sit for certification exams that can strengthen their job prospects after graduation. Medical assistants typically work in doctors’ offices and other outpatient settings, where they support direct patient care and office operations.

All PBSC campuses will offer online information and assistance from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, with admissions and registration, academic advising, the bookstore, the cashier’s office, the Center for Student Accessibility, financial aid and the Veterans Resource Center.
