The Village of Wellington will host a series of community-focused events on Saturday, April 25, in recognition of Earth Day and Arbor Day, offering environmental activities, education and family-friendly programming.
The day begins with Wellington’s participation in the Great American Cleanup, a national initiative led by Keep America Beautiful that mobilizes volunteers across the country to improve local communities. In Wellington, cleanup efforts will start at 9 a.m., with volunteers working throughout the Village. The initiative is coordinated locally in partnership with Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful and the Solid Waste Authority. Residents interested in participating are encouraged to register in advance through the Village’s Community Services Department.

Later in the morning, activities will shift to the Wellington Amphitheater, located at 12100 Forest Hill Boulevard, where the Wellington Garden Club will host its annual Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event will feature a wide variety of plants, including annuals, perennials, native species, orchids and butterfly-friendly selections sourced from local nurseries and cultivated by Garden Club members.
The Plant Sale coincides with Wellington’s Earth Day & Arbor Day Celebration, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the same location. The event will begin with a ceremonial tree planting led by the Village Council, featuring a Pink Cassia in honor of Arbor Day. Throughout the event, attendees can explore educational exhibits and demonstrations focused on sustainability, including information on eco-friendly products and proper tree care.

Additional highlights include free native seedlings, giveaways and a raffle for a 15-gallon plant. Wellington Public Works staff will provide demonstrations on proper tree pruning, while local organizations and community partners will host informational booths. Families can also meet Smokey Bear, adding an interactive component for younger attendees.
The celebration will also feature the F.L.O.W.E.R. Awards (Fabulous Landscapes Of Wellington Earning Recognition), recognizing local efforts in landscaping and environmental stewardship. Participating groups include the Wellington Garden Club, Wellington Art Society and Wellington Tree Board, all of which play a role in promoting sustainability and community engagement.
Together, the day’s events reflect Wellington’s continued commitment to environmental awareness, community involvement and the preservation of green spaces. For more information about Earth Day and Arbor Day activities, visit wellingtonfl.gov/EarthDay.
