The free public event will begin with a parade at 8:15 a.m. departing from Wellington Village Hall, located at 12300 Forest Hill Blvd. Veterans participating in the parade will travel to the Veterans Memorial at the corner of Forest Hill Boulevard and South Shore Boulevard, where a Memorial Day ceremony will begin immediately afterward at 8:30 a.m.

Organizers said the annual event is intended to honor and remember those who served the nation, while also bringing the community together in recognition of Memorial Day.

Active-duty and retired veterans attending the ceremony will also have the opportunity to register at the Wellington information tent the morning of the event to be formally recognized during the program.

Community members interested in participating in the parade or becoming involved with the event are encouraged to contact Michelle Garvey at 561-791-4082.

The Memorial Day observance will also coincide with the return of the “Flags of Wellington” display, presented through a partnership between the Village of Wellington and the Rotary Club of Wellington.

Running from May 16 through June 13, the display features American flags placed along Forest Hill Boulevard adjacent to the Patriot Memorial as a tribute to remembrance, unity and community spirit.

Village officials said the installation serves as a visible reminder of the sacrifices made by members of the military and reflects Wellington’s continued support for veterans and patriotic observances throughout the community.
