West Palm Beach to host 37th annual 4th on Flagler

The City of West Palm Beach will host its 37th annual 4th on Flagler celebration Friday, July 4, from 5 to 10 p.m. along the city’s waterfront. The event, themed “One Nation, Our Celebration,” is recognized as the largest Independence Day celebration in South Florida, drawing more than 75,000 people each year.

The festivities will span Flagler Drive between Banyan Boulevard and Fern Street, offering entertainment on three stages, family-friendly games and activities, and food and beverage vendors. The event will culminate in an 18-minute fireworks show over the Intracoastal Waterway, sponsored by FPL, beginning at approximately 9:09 p.m.

A Patriotic Ceremony will kick off the festivities at 6 p.m. on the Great Lawn. Highlights include the national anthem, a color guard presentation, drumline and bagpipe performances, and the unfurling of a large American flag with the help of more than 50 volunteers. The ceremony will also mark the start and finish of the Bill Bone 5K.


Entertainment will be spread across the following locations:


• Main Stage — NewDay USA Stage, Flagler Drive at North Clematis Street. The VZN Band will perform a mix of disco, Motown, rock, reggae and other party favorites from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

• Kids’ Zone — Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Stage, Meyer Amphitheatre. DJ Reflex will play music from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Health Specialty Center Kids’ Area. Attractions include bounce houses, obstacle courses ($5 for unlimited play), face painting, glitter tattoos, and craft stations with free, Independence Day-themed activities.


• Country Music Zone — Palm Beach International Boat Show Stage, Post Park. DJ Kid Karter will host a country-themed celebration from 5 to 9 p.m. with country music hits, line-dancing lessons, photo opportunities with farm animals, and a mechanical bull ($5 per ride, ages 18 and older).

WPBF-TV 25 will air a live broadcast featuring the fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Event organizers recommend that attendees bring blankets and lawn chairs. Parking will be available at city garages. From 4 to 10 p.m., the City Center, Clematis and Sapodilla garages will offer a $5 flat rate, while the closest garages, Banyan and Evernia, will be $10.
