Jupiter Medical Center announced a record-breaking $35 million philanthropic gift from longtime supporters Tim and Jayne Donahue, marking the largest donation in the hospital’s history.
The lead gift will support the hospital’s new $135 million Patient Care Tower, a 92-bed, five-story facility scheduled to open on the hospital’s main campus at 1210 S. Old Dixie Highway. In recognition of the donation, the building has been named the Tim and Jayne Donahue Patient Care Tower, with signage unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Jan. 7.
Hospital officials said the tower will expand Jupiter Medical Center’s inpatient capacity to 340 beds while introducing a specialty-based care model. The new facility features dedicated floors for oncology, cardiovascular care and orthopedics, including two floors that integrate inpatient treatment with rehabilitation services. Each specialty floor will be staffed by multidisciplinary teams trained specifically for those patient populations.
The tower also houses a Clinical Simulation Center, a training facility that includes hands-on instruction, team-based simulations and testing of new technologies. The building sits adjacent to a newly opened five-story parking pavilion.
The Donahues say their support reflects a long-standing belief in the hospital’s patient-first culture and its role as a critical health care provider for northern Palm Beach County.
“We chose to give because Jupiter Medical Center is more than a hospital; it’s a lifeline for our growing community,” says Tim and Jayne Donahue. “We were inspired by its culture of putting patients first, its award-winning care, and the hospital’s leadership and bold vision for the future."
Tim Donahue is widely known for his leadership as president and CEO of Nextel Communications, where he helped transform the company into a Fortune 200 enterprise. He and his wife divide their time between Palm Beach Gardens and Nantucket and have supported Jupiter Medical Center since 2018.
Hospital leaders described the gift as a milestone that will have lasting impact.
