The Cultural Council for Palm Beach County features the delicate and reflective mixed-media works of Delray Beach-based artist Luciana Boaventura in a solo exhibition titled “Fragile Beauty: Steeped in Life,” opening Friday, April 11, and continuing through Saturday, May 17, at the council’s headquarters in downtown Lake Worth Beach.

Boaventura, a Brazilian-born artist and flower therapist, draws inspiration from the natural world and its quiet, ephemeral beauty. Her work explores themes of memory, impermanence and healing through organic materials — most notably tea bags, flower petals and seeds. Using a process rooted in flower therapy, she dyes paper with herbs and teas, then integrates natural elements to create textured, meditative compositions that celebrate life’s fragile interconnectedness.

“Luciana’s work is a subtle alchemy,” says Jessica Ransom, the Cultural Council’s director of artist services. “She transforms the seemingly mundane into lush, calming landscapes of emotion and memory. These are pieces that invite slow contemplation, evoking a sense of stillness and serenity. Her approach helps us reimagine everyday materials as vessels of healing and reflection.”

Boaventura’s path to art is steeped in wellness. As a certified flower therapist, she practices a healing method introduced in the 1930s by English physician Edward Bach. This background informs her creative process, which embraces transformation, mindfulness and emotional growth. Her work acts as a visual metaphor for the transience of life, the passage of time and the beauty in nature’s imperfection.

“My work is a continuous exploration of the delicate and often invisible connections that link humanity to the natural world,” Boaventura says. “The materials I use — humble, organic and intentionally chosen — speak to the cycles of growth, decay and rebirth.”

The artist’s focus on simplicity and nature imbues her creations with a soft but powerful presence. Her installations invite viewers to reconnect with their own experiences of change and healing.

All artworks in the exhibition are available for purchase.

Boaventura is one of six Palm Beach County-based artists selected for solo shows in the Cultural Council’s Gayle and Paul Gross Gallery during the 2024-2025 season.

An opening reception for “Fragile Beauty: Steeped in Life” is set for held Thursday, April 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., coinciding with the opening of Biennial 2025, a juried group exhibition showcasing 17 Palm Beach County artists. The reception is free and open to the public.
