Morikami Museum hosts Youth Calligraphy Workshop

Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens offers a Youth Calligraphy workshop on Saturday, July 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., teaching participants the art of Japanese writing using traditional ink and brush.
The workshop is open to students in third through twelfth grade and costs $25, not including museum admission. Advance registration is required. Children under fourteen must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who may also enroll in the workshop.
In addition to participating in the workshop, guests are encouraged to explore the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. The museum features galleries showcasing Japanese art and artifacts, an authentic tea house, a theater, museum store and café.
Visitors can also stroll through 16 acres of Japanese gardens with bonsai collections, lakes and winding pathways, as well as enjoy the surrounding nature trails and picnic areas.
Museum admission is free for members and children five and under. Adults pay $18, seniors and military personnel with ID pay $16, students with ID pay $14, and children ages 6-17 pay $12. Children under fifteen must be accompanied by an adult.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last admission ticket sold at 4:30 p.m. For more information and tickets, visit morikami.org.
