Palm Beach County officials joined representatives from the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department Nov. 12 to break ground on the Lake Lytal Aquatic Center, a next-generation facility designed to serve as a hub for recreation, swim instruction, and community wellness.

Located at 3645 Lake Lytal Park Drive in West Palm Beach, the project will replace the park’s aging pool with a modern, accessible space built for both competitive and leisure use.

The centerpiece of the new facility will be a 70-meter competition pool featuring a 13-foot-deep dive well and two bulkheads that allow for multiple simultaneous activities. Complementing the competition space will be a 6,975-square-foot aquatic play zone, complete with three water slides, interactive play structures, and shaded seating areas.

Additional amenities will include a 2,048-square-foot concession building serving both the aquatic center and the nearby YMCA, as well as a 7,445-square-foot support building housing restrooms, showers, offices, storage, and a multipurpose room. A 1,446-square-foot ticketing and office building will anchor the entrance, and parking will be expanded to include 382 paved spaces with overflow capacity for an additional 160 vehicles.

“When complete, this facility will not only enhance opportunities for aquatic recreation and water safety, but it will also create a lasting space for families to connect, learn and play together,” says Jennifer Cirillo, Director of the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department. “Lake Lytal has been a cornerstone of our community for more than 50 years, and this investment ensures it will continue to serve future generations.”

The new Lake Lytal Aquatic Center is expected to elevate the region’s aquatic programming and reinforce the park’s long-standing role as a centerpiece of Palm Beach County’s recreational offerings.
