Gardening enthusiasts and nature lovers alike are invited to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of plants at Mounts Botanical Garden’s Plant-a-Palooza Winter Plant Sale on Feb. 8 and 9.
The annual event brings together more than 50 of Florida’s premier plant growers, artisans and gardening experts.
Visitors can shop an extensive selection of rare and exotic plants, including orchids, succulents, bonsai, native plants and fruit trees. Garden accessories, handcrafted items and fine crafts also will be sold.
Attendees also can engage with growers and artisans to learn about South Florida’s diverse plant culture, gain gardening tips and discover trends in floral design.
Three special presentations are free with admission:
• “The Fascinating World of Frogs & Their Habitats” with Dr. Steve Johnson, offered twice, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. Johnson, a leading expert in amphibian ecology, will present live and preserved specimens, demonstrate methods for managing invasive Cuban tree frogs, and share resources on native amphibians.
• “Chemical Care for Your Orchids with Mike Sands,” Saturday, 1 p.m. Sands, the owner of Tangled Roots Orchid Nursery and a certified horticulturist, will cover pest management, fungal issues and best fertilization practices.
• “Beyond Landscaping: Transforming Landscapes for a Sustainable Future” with CJ McCartney, Sunday, 1 p.m. Environmental steward and master gardener McCartney will explain how to design sustainable landscapes using Florida Keystone native plants, emphasizing the importance of supporting endangered species and creating pollinator-friendly habitats.
Food trucks will be on site throughout the weekend.
