The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners has proclaimed March 2026 as Florida Bicycle Month, shining a spotlight on the growing role of cycling as both a recreational pursuit and a practical way to get around.
The proclamation recognizes the broad benefits of bicycling — from physical fitness and mental well-being to reduced traffic congestion and a lighter environmental footprint — and highlights Palm Beach County's extensive network of trails and pathways available to riders of all ages and skill levels.
With approximately 300 miles of designated and enhanced bicycle facilities countywide, Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department offers year-round access to scenic trails, paved pathways and natural surface routes throughout the region.
"PBC Parks is proud to provide spaces where individuals and families can safely ride, exercise and connect with nature," says Jennifer Cirillo, Director of Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation. "Florida Bicycle Month is a wonderful reminder of the many benefits biking brings to our physical health, mental well-being and overall quality of life. We invite everyone to explore our parks and trails this March and ride responsibly."
Throughout the month, the Parks and Recreation Department is encouraging residents and visitors to discover new routes, take advantage of local parks and trails and practice safe riding habits.
The push for greater bicycle access extends beyond parks and recreation. Palm Beach County Engineering and Public Works, in partnership with the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization and local agencies, continues to expand and improve bicycle infrastructure across the region. Those collaborative efforts are designed to build bicycle-friendly communities that support public health, tourism and economic activity.
