Families are invited to enjoy outdoor adventure, games and community engagement at the Village of Wellington’s free annual Kids to Parks Day on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wellington Amphitheater at 12100 Forest Hill Blvd.
Now in its 15th year, Kids to Parks Day is part of an initiative launched by the National Park Trust to encourage children and families to explore public parks and connect with nature. Celebrated across the country on the third Saturday of May, the event aims to inspire future outdoor enthusiasts and promote lifelong stewardship of parks and green spaces.
Wellington’s event includes entertainment by Digital Vibez, setting the stage with music and dancing throughout the event. Kids can enjoy bounce houses, crazy games, face painting, lawn games, sports stations, laser tag and an inclusive inflatable for children of all abilities.
The Wellington Bicycle Rodeo runs from 9 to 11 a.m. for children ages 5 to 13. This hands-on experience teaches bike safety and handling skills. While a limited number of bikes and helmets will be available, participants are encouraged to bring their own. Pre-registration is required for the rodeo and can be completed at wellingtonbicyclerodeo25.eventbrite.com.
Participants in the Bicycle Rodeo, in the parking lot adjacent to the Amphitheater, near Ken Adams Way on the southeast side of the Town Center Complex, must check in by 10:45 a.m. Registered riders are entered into a raffle for prizes at 11 a.m.
First responders at the event offer families the chance to connect with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Children can meet local heroes and explore emergency vehicles.
Wellington’s Kids to Parks Day is made possible through the support of community partners, including the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Bike Volunteer Unit. For additional information, call Christian Santa-Gonzalez of Wellington’s Planning & Zoning Department at 561-753-2435.
