Brazilian-American musician and Broadway veteran Manny Moreira will blend two iconic 1960s musical movements in a multimedia performance next month at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
"Brits & Bossa – The Music of the Beatles and Brasil" is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in the Rinker Playhouse at 701 Okeechobee Blvd. The show explores the British Invasion and Brazilian Bossa Nova/Tropicália through music, storytelling and visual projections.
The repertoire includes Beatles classics such as "Yesterday," "Blackbird" and "Drive My Car," alongside Brazilian favorites like Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Girl from Ipanema" and Sergio Mendes' "Mas Que Nada." The expanded song list incorporates selections from other British Invasion groups including The Zombies, The Kinks and The Who.
Moreira will perform guitar and vocals alongside his partner, Lou Wilkin, who contributes percussion, guitar and vocals. The ensemble includes Cassio Coutinho on keys, Wesley Nascimento on drums and Miguel Huerta Garcia on bass and backing vocals.

"After seeing the enthusiasm for our sold-out shows of Brits and Bossa at Riverside, we're super excited to bring this show to Palm Beach County," said Moreira. "Whether you're a longtime fan of these genres or just discovering them for the first time, we invite you to join us for a beautiful and memorable night of music and audience connection."
Moreira is a Juilliard-trained conductor, guitarist, vocalist, composer, arranger and producer. He has appeared in five national tours and four multiple-Tony Award-winning Broadway shows, including "In the Heights," for which he served as original guitarist from the Off-Broadway production through the Broadway run. He also appears in the film version directed by Jon Chu.
His other Broadway credits include "The Who's Tommy," Elton John's "Aida," "Smokey Joe's Cafe" and "Blood Brothers" with Helen Reddy. His work can be heard on the Grammy-winning "In the Heights" album with Lin-Manuel Miranda and "Paraiso" with jazz musician Gerry Mulligan. He recently co-produced the album "Savoy" for three-time Grammy winner Taj Mahal.
After 35 years in New York City, Moreira relocated to Vero Beach in 2018. He has performed in nine Broadway musicals at Riverside Theatre, described as Florida's largest producing regional theatre.
Moreira is founder and producing artistic director of the New Deco Orchestra, which he established to promote what he calls the "Return of Elegance."
